Symbian Project Wizard

There are several Symbian project wizards that allow for quick-starting the development, but they never satisfied me enough. I wanted something simple, yet modifiable and extensible. Existing wizards just didn’t suite the SymbianExample needs. I had to create an own tool and I am glad to share it with everyone.

SymbianExample.com project wizard is templateable. After you select the template, project name and target directory, it copies the template to the desired location and replaces the “TemplateProjectZZZ” substring in the filenames and file content into your new project name. The wizard cares about the higher and lower character cases. For example, TEMPLATEPROJECTZZZ would be converted into HELLOWORLD. Adding a new template is as simple as copying it to the wizard’s “templates” folder. Strictly speaking it is not even a Symbian-only wizard – you can use it for virtually any programming language.

The package includes templates for the following project types:

  • ExeDll
  • Universal ExeDll that can be build both for S60 2nd edition and 3rd edition
  • GUI HelloWorld for the S60 2nd edition
  • GUI HelloWorld for the S60 3rd edition
  • Universal GUI HelloWorld that can be build both for S60 2nd edition and 3rd edition

Feel free to modify or add new templates and post them to SymbianExample.com

The wizard is distributed under the Share Alike license. You can freely use it for commercial purposes and you are free to create your own proprietary templates.

I can "templatize" the Flash Lite HelloWorld

Hi, Alessandro

I've never developed with Flash Lite so I don't know what the Flash Lite project has to include. If you could send me a working one, I would transform it into this Project Wizard template

Artem.

Ok

At least I managed to

At least I managed to install some FL SIS-packages from the Macromedia site to the Nokia mobile. The icon was in the grid. I could not actually start the program, because the phone didn't have a built-in Flash Lite (and Macromedia asked money for it), but the since icon was in the grid, I suppose it was meant for starting the FL app :)
